Advanced Miniature Painting: Skin Tones & Facial Features

Skin tones and facial features are where miniatures truly come alive and they are easier to get right than most painters think.

In this hands-on advanced workshop, we will explore simple, practical techniques for painting natural-looking skin tones and expressive faces. Together we will cover layering, highlights and shadows, painting eyes, and adding small facial details that make a genuinely noticeable difference to the finished piece.

Everything will be broken down into easy-to-follow steps with plenty of tips along the way. This workshop is designed for painters who are comfortable with the basics and want to build confidence tackling one of the most rewarding challenges in miniature painting. You will work on a bust miniature throughout the session, a format perfect for practising facial detail and take it home with you at the end, along with a set of brushes to keep.

By the end of the session you will have a completed bust, new techniques in your toolkit and the confidence to bring more life to every miniature you paint from here on.
