The TableMinis Bakes, Bites & Breakfast Book Club: Sunrise on the Reaping

📚 Before the Mockingjay took flight, forty years of silence laid the groundwork for rebellion.

This November, we are returning to the blood-soaked sands of Panem. As the sun rises on the morning of the 50th Annual Hunger Games, a double tribute count promises twice the carnage, twice the spectacle, and twice the trauma for the districts. Join us as we dive into Suzanne Collins’ gripping prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, to unpack the fateful Second Quarter Quell that shaped a young Haymitch Abernathy.

Re-enter the Capitol's arena and examine the price of propaganda, resilience, and the spark of resistance.

Forty years after President Snow's rise to power and twenty-four years before Katniss Everdeen stepped up as volunteer, fifty District 12 tributes are harvested for an arena designed to break every soul inside it. We’ll be discussing how Collins masterfully weaves themes of implicit bias, media control, and systemic control into a harrowing survival narrative. What does it mean to survive an unwinnable game, and how does a lone survivor bear the weight of forty dead tributes? Whether you're a long-time Panem scholar or returning to the world after years away, your voice is welcome at our table!

As per usual, there’ll be good company, good conversation, and some very good food!!
