📚 Celebrate JA250 with Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, a parody novel by Ben H. Winters and his co-author Jane Austen.

In Bath where the book club’s bright-eyed host once lived, September is where the annual celebration of the famed 18th century English author, Jane Austen begins. Seeing the streets get taken over by people decked in their best Regency costumes always filled him with awe as it was as if the cosplay traditions that he had grown up with had spread westwards and taken good old England by storm. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of Austen’s birth, we’re bringing this cross-cultural phenomenon to TableMinis with this month’s read Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

A mashup story containing elements from Jane Austen's 1811 debut novel Sense and Sensibility and common tropes from sea monster stories, this is bound to be a buoyant read that’s filled with bliss, bounty and bravery.

The story follows the plot of Austen's novel, but sets it in an alternative universe in which an event known as "The Alteration" has turned the creatures of the sea against mankind. With sea serpents, giant lobsters, and man-eating jellyfish all around, will the Dashwood sisters survive love and heartbreak still?
