The Dark Eye is a German tabletop role-playing game. It's the most successful role-playing game on the German market, outselling Dungeons & Dragons. The authors' focus on detail and the close connection with the community have led to a detailed and extensively described game world.

Aventuria, the continent on which the game, is set includes cultural elements that are similar to the real world. The setting roughly corresponds to Europe's late medieval period. Gameplay has a strong emphasis on the roleplay aspects with less emphasis on combat. Stories are deeply embedded within the world. The continent's races are similar to those of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth (e.g., Multiple human cultures, elves, dwarves, etc.).

"The Dark Eye" is renowned for its unique magic system, where cosmic constellations, known as the Twelve Stars, influence magical abilities. Magic in this world is deeply connected to the celestial forces, and mastering it requires a delicate balance of knowledge and intuition.

The adventure will take place in the heart of the continent, the Middle Realm, the leading civilization. It will be set in a small village near the mountains and will emphasize character play and also feature horror and mystery elements as well as some combat.

Player characters can come from all major human cultures, or be half-elves, elves, or dwarves.
