Dive into a fast-paced, creative workshop for tabletop role-players who want to build characters that truly come alive at the table. Whether you're just getting started or looking to evolve your storytelling, this session gives you the tools to shape compelling, layered personalities using timeless archetypes, and flip them on their head.

In this workshop, you'll:

• Explore Classic Archetypes: From Heroes to Tricksters, Mentors to Outcasts, learn what makes these core roles so powerful in story-driven games. We’ll dive into timeless archetypes that shape great narratives. Through group discussion and RPG examples, you’ll uncover what makes each archetype tick, and how to bring them to life at the table.

• Subverting Tropes: Learn to spot the common tropes tied to each archetype, and discover how to embrace or subvert them to create truly unique characters. We’ll discuss how these patterns influence gameplay and shape how your character interacts with the world.
  

• Roleplay with Depth: Use archetypes as creative tools to shape your character’s motivations, relationships, and growth. With a deeper understanding of their role in the story, you’ll bring more nuance and energy to your in-game performance.

  
  

• Build Characters That Stick: Through hands-on activities, you’ll design original characters using archetypal frameworks, mixing traits, adding flaws, and imagining growth arcs. You’ll leave with a toolkit for creating compelling, memorable characters for any campaign.

By the end of this workshop, you'll not only understand archetypes more deeply, you’ll be able to use them as launchpads for storytelling, creativity, and meaningful gameplay.

This workshop is hosted by TableMinis and guided by independent facilitator Syamim.

Syamim is an award winning screenwriter and storyteller with experience in TV and Film. With almost a decade of worldbuilding and storycrafting, he has great insight into the ins and out of making compelling tales.
