Time is limited, expectations can vary, and you’re expected to deliver a complete, satisfying experience in a single sitting.

GM Fundamentals: Running Public Games Effectively is a practical workshop designed to equip Game Masters with the tools, mindset, and techniques needed to confidently run smooth, engaging public games, whether at TableMinis, conventions, libraries, cafés, or community events.

This workshop focuses on real-world GM skills, not theory: table management, pacing, adaptability, player dynamics and maintaining quality under pressure. We’ll cover how to public games differ from home campaigns, handling tables where brand-new players and veterans are mixed together, how to set clear boundaries and expectations right from the start.

You'll learn how to keep the game's pace moving without making players feel rushed, and how to balance the spotlight so everyone gets a turn, even with more dominant personalities at the table. We’ll also talk about how to adapt and think on your feet when the story goes off the rails, how to end your sessions cleanly, satisfyingly and on time, and ways to maintaining GM confidence and presence in unfamiliar tables.
