Five years ago, a book titled "Sarah of Yellowcrest Manor" found its way to the hallowed halls of Candlekeep, courtesy of a young Waterdavian apprentice mage named Sirok. He had stumbled upon the book at a street sale, unaware of its dark history. This volume was part of a once-treasured collection belonging to the illustrious Yellowcrest family of Waterdeep.

When Sirok offered the book as payment for entry into Candlekeep, he recounted a grim tale to the Avowed priests. Lord Yellowcrest, the family's patriarch, had returned from a business trip to a scene of horror: his wife, three children, and four servants brutally murdered. Stricken with grief, Lord Yellowcrest sold all his possessions and vanished from Waterdeep, choosing to live out his days in isolation.

Sirok, who had not delved into the book’s contents, had gleaned this tragic story from gossiping acquaintances. The sinister legacy of his donation quickly faded from memory, and "Sarah of Yellowcrest Manor" was quietly cataloged and shelved in the library’s vast archives, where it has languished, unnoticed, ever since.
